Exciting life in TR

Hi gang. Nothing going on here in the big city of TR. Had to wash my car again; that’s 3 or 4 times now. Don’t know what’s gotten into me. Today I broke down and mowed the lawn but then had to go get some more gas. Cost $5 for less than 2 gallons. Used to be you couldn’t spend $5 all summer. This might be a good excuse not to mow at all . . . well, maybe a couple of times. Memorial Day and Labor Day perhaps. Sang with the Greenville Chorale last Saturday night at the Peace center. Pretty good concert from all I’ve heard. They put all the good singers toward the front. I was in the back row. One step back and I’d disappear. Planted my garden today; 2 tomato plants! Every year I’ve tried to grow tomatos and the squirrels steal them. I noticed that the squirrels never go near the roses, so this year you guesed it I planted the maters in the rose bed. I’ll either have strange tasting tomatoes or odd smelling roses. Or maybe, the squirrels will be like Ferdinand and just sit there and smell the flowers. As Bugs Bunny says, “that’s all folks.”

The Land of the Free

For all of you who reside in this land of comparative peace and freedom, just thought I’d let you know that twas on the 19th of March 1952 that this fearless soldier, all 135 pounds of him, embarked from the port of Seattle. His mission? Why save the world for democracy, what did you expect. I’ll never forget the feeling of wondering how in heck I got into this predicament. Hey, I joined the army ’cause I was hungry, not to go fight someone! However, Uncle Sam saw the wisdom of sending me off, and even provided me a sendoff with a full Army Band. The stirring march they played (to bolster my courage I presume) was a then current popular tune entitled “So Long, It’s Been Good to Know You!!” However, once I got used to the idea of possible combat, I enjoyed the 14 days (except for the first two which I spent hanging over the rail) aboard the USNS Marine Phoenix. And that’s this week’s exciting episode from The Life of This Day.
Other than that, started going back to the Y after a lay-off of 8 or 9 months. Not too bably out of shape. I’d been trying to walk a couple of miles on a regular basis, but found that my foot was giving me trouble so thought the arobic equipment at the Y would be a better form of excercise. Greenville Chorale has started rehearsals for it’s April 22 concert. Real tough (for me) stuff including Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, in Hebrew< and Tres Cantus Laudendi, by Mack Wilberg, in Latin. I think, if we behave ourselves, they'll let us try English next year.
OK, now I typed all this (and my one finger is sore) so let’s see if we can get it on the Blop page of all Blog Pages.

It’s ME

I can’t believe I actually got to where I could post a note on this prestigious (sp?) blog page. After getting precise instructions from Greg (or as precise as Greg ever gets) I still amnaged to get lost a couple of times, but hey, here I am for better of worse.
Got back a short while ago from a visit with Tom. Hadn’t been down there in quite a while and was impressed with his handiwork. The cruiser ran well, found that the air conditioning works (it was 82 degrees on the way home) and got over 24 MPG on the trip. Makes me feel a little better. By the way, in the past two months I’ve washed the new car 2 times. In the past ten years I think I’ve washed the van 3 times.

Me first! Me first!

Hey ya’ll.

Greg, being a thinking kind of guy, came up with the idea that we should have an All-Day blog. One that everybody can add to, comment on, post pictures in, and various other phrases that all end with prepositions.

Being the helpful lad that I am, I set one up.

Have fun.
